Paediatric Physiotherapy- Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Persistent Pain

Our FND, CFS and Persistent Pain (including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome- CRPS) Clinic supports children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with one of more of these conditions by a medical professional.

Physiotherapists working with young people with these diagnoses are skilled in identifying predisposing and maintaining factors and together with the young person, implement evidence based treatment techniques, including self management strategies.

The clinic offers early intervention to optimise outcomes and supports multidisciplinary team members involved in  care. Education about the conditions, specific to the young person, can also be shared with the family, school, sporting club and others in the young person’s life.

Key treatment areas include:

  • Physical movement re-training
  • Building of physical mastery, coping skills and resilience
  • Functional seizure guidance including returning to school
  • Trigger identification and trouble shooting
  • Energy conservation techniques
  • Return to school, leisure and sport planning
