Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapist

Consulting Days: Tuesday

Amanda is a physiotherapist with 30 years  experience working predominantly with children and adolescents. She has specialist skills in  the area of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and  also has a keen interest in persistent pain. Beginning her clinical journey as a physiotherapist at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne, Amanda has worked in a range of clinical areas whilst attached to the acute physio, rehabilitation and pain management teams at RCH.

Amanda was a founding clinician of the CFS self management program at RCH in 2012 and developed that program over 10 years. More recently she worked in an advanced practice role developing a specialist early intervention service for children and adolescents diagnosed with FND. This was a statewide service implemented through the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS). She is also a current casual clinician in the RCH Children’s Pain Management Service.

Alongside her clinical work, Amanda presents at conferences and was previously a Monash University Physiotherapy Teaching Associate. She has enjoyed supervising both junior and senior physiotherapists and has been responsible for up skilling local and regional therapists across Victoria in the area of FND management.

Amanda is passionate about the health of children and adolescents. At VCC, she hopes to use her expertise in FND, CFS and persistent pain to support young people to access care early so that they can re-engage in the fundamental and fun parts of this important life stage.
