Clinical Interests

Dr McCullagh has extensive experience in a wide range of paediatric respiratory and sleep conditions affecting children of all ages (0-18yrs). She consults on a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Long-standing or recurrent cough
  • Asthma and wheeze
  • Recurrent lung infections
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Noisy breathing / breathing difficulties
  • Premature infants with ongoing breathing difficulties
  • Congenital lung/airway abnormalities
  • Snoring and sleep apnoea
  • Hypersomnolence
  • Parasomnias
  • Behavioural sleep disorders

Background and Experience

Dr. Angela McCullagh is a highly respected paediatrician with over 20 years of experience, specialising in respiratory and sleep medicine. She grew up in Melbourne and completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours at the University of Melbourne in 1998.  She trained in paediatric respiratory Medicine in Melbourne and London and obtained her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2011. In 2013, she earned her Doctor of Medicine (MD) by Research from the University of London, with exploratory work in airway physiology.

In addition to her work at Victorian Children’s Clinic, Dr. McCullagh works as a Respiratory Paediatrician at Monash Children’s Hospital and is the Medical Lead for the Complex Kids Program, run through Monash Children’s at Home. She holds honorary appointment at the Royal Children’s Hospital, having previously worked there for over a decade, and Monash University, where she is involved in medical student teaching and examination.
