Paediatric Sleep – Child & Teen

Behavioural sleep support for child and adolescent sleep challenges

To make an appointment or for further information about our services, please visit Children’s Sleep Australia.

Children’s Sleep Australia provides evidence-based sleep support for children and adolescents aged 4 to 17 years. We understand how significantly sleep difficulties can affect mood, learning, school attendance, mental health, and family life, and we work alongside families and young people to support meaningful, lasting change.

Appointments are provided by Dr Laura Conway (PhD, Sleep Practitioner). The initial appointment is 50 minutes long. Prior to the appointment, families complete a 7-day sleep diary and relevant questionnaires, which are reviewed to understand each child’s unique sleep profile and experience.

We support a range of sleep concerns, including difficulty falling asleepnight wakingchronic insomniaunwanted bed sharingdifficulty waking in the morning, and circadian rhythm difficulties such as delayed sleep phase disorder. We are experienced in supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents, including autistic, ADHD, and gifted young people, and provide child-centred, neuro-affirming care.

If your child is under 7 years of age, their attendance at the appointment is not compulsory – parents usually know whether it’s best for their child to attend or not. If your child is 7 years or older, we ask that you bring them to their appointment as we find from this age children like to be involved in developing their sleep plan, and this tends to improve child sleep outcomes. For teenage appointments, a comfortable space outside the consulting room is available if parents or teens prefer to step out.

A collaborative approach is central to our work. It is important that children, and especially teenagers, are motivated to make changes to their sleep, as sleep interventions can be challenging and lasting improvement relies on active engagement.

You will receive clear, practical guidance in the form of a tailored sleep plan, provided within 24 hours of your appointment. Ongoing appointments are typically required to monitor progress and introduce additional strategies and may be delivered via Telehealth or in the clinic.

At Children’s Sleep Australia, we provide compassionate, developmentally informed care to support healthy, sustainable sleep across childhood and adolescence.
