Clinical Interests

Gráinne is a general paediatrician with a special interest in neurodevelopment, disability and medical complexity. She enjoys working with children, young people and their families to understand their strengths, challenges and goals, and takes a holistic, family-centred approach to care. Her clinical interests include ADHD, autism, learning and developmental difficulties, behavioural and emotional wellbeing, feeding and growth concerns, and supporting children with chronic and complex health conditions.

Background and Experience

Gráinne completed her paediatric training in Ireland and Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. She has worked across a range of paediatric specialties in both hospital and community settings, including three years with the Complex Care Service at the Royal Children’s Hospital, supporting children with disability, medical complexity and chronic health conditions. She currently works with the Northern Health Paediatric Service, providing care through the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department and Virtual Specialist Consults program.

Gráinne also completed a PhD through the Royal Children’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne, investigating how health data collected during everyday healthcare can be used to improve the diagnosis, care and outcomes of children.

Practice Philosophy

As both a paediatrician and a parent of 4 children, Gráinne understands that every child and family is unique. She believes that the best care comes from listening carefully, building strong relationships and working collaboratively with families, schools, allied health professionals and other healthcare providers. Her aim is to provide practical, evidence-based care that supports children to thrive at home, at school and in their communities.
